 Barbara Slusher, PA-C, MSW Houston Rheumatologist AssistantAs a physician assistant, Barbara is able to diagnose and treat new and existing patients as well as write prescriptions, order diagnostic imaging, perform procedures such as joint injections and other tasks as needed in the treatment of patients in our office. She will be working closely with Drs. Appleyard and Aguilar to ensure that patients continue to receive the high level of care they are accustomed to. Barbara attained her Physician Assistant degree from the University of North Texas, College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth. She completed her Masters and Bachelors degrees in Social Work from the University of Maryland. Prior to her work with Rheumatology Associates of Houston, Barbara worked four years in a private Rheumatology clinic, and has experience treating allergy and asthma as well as experience working at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. She is passionate about treating patients with autoimmune illnesses and enjoys educating patients about the disease process and treatment options. She is a member of the Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals, Society of Physician Assistants in Rheumatology, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and Texas Gulf Coast Physician Assistant Association.
