Martha Aguilar, MD
Houston Rheumatologist
Dr. Martha Aguilar is a native Texan and has been a practicing board-certified rheumatologist since 1999. She is a partner with Rheumatology Associates of Houston. Dr. Aguilar is a former graduate of the University of Houston in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Psychology. She obtained her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 1994 and went on to complete her residency in Internal Medicine in 1997.
She subsequently was accepted as a fellow in rheumatology at the University of Texas and had the great honor of training under the leadership of world renowned rheumatologists, Dr. Frank Arnett and Dr. John Reveille. She completed her fellowship in 1999. She continues to be involved with the University of Texas Rheumatology department through meetings, Texas Medical Center Grand Rounds, and as a volunteer faculty member. Dr. Aguilar is involved in educating 4th year medical students in their internal medicine clerkship.
Dr. Aguilar is a member of the American College of Rheumatology. She is a Texas Monthly Super Doctor and H magazine Top Doctor. She has also has received a Best Doctor Award.
She is on staff at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital. Dr. Aguilar is fluent in Spanish and enjoys providing care to Houston’s Hispanic community. She is a board member of the Texas Chapter Arthritis Foundation. She has a special interest in rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthropathies.
The majority of Dr. Aguilar’s spare time is spent with her husband and three children. She enjoys running and has completed the Houston marathon and Austin half marathon and also practice’s Bikram Yoga.
